I'm Feng Qiu

Before moving to Canada, I spent eleven years building consumer products at Smartisan and Xiaomi. My work included mobile system apps, international versions of MIUI, a new business in Japan, and Xiaomi's first generative AI advertising platform. I'm now studying Applied Modelling and Quantitative Methods at Trent University.

The things I build on my own usually begin with a problem I know firsthand. DailyTrace started because I wanted to understand where my time went. Essayly and Otonna came from learning English. WordBoost came later, when I wanted vocabulary practice to fit naturally into everyday reading. I designed and built all four, with AI helping me turn ideas into working software.

For what comes next, I'd like to bring these two sides of my work together: the product judgment I developed on larger teams and the hands-on building I've done on my own. Ideally, that means joining a team that communicates directly and stays close to the people using what it builds. I wrote down the longer story, which takes about three minutes to read.
